Current Activities
Mobile Learning
Since 1996 I have been following mobile devices and their use in learning. In addition to consulting and working on mobile learning projects, I maintain
mLearnopedia.com and now also
cc.mlearnopedia.com. I continually experiment with mobile development tools and reviewing mobile content. I have put together a
mobile home page for use on my cell phone and would appreciate any feedback or additional sources. See the
presentations page for information about recent and upcoming presentations.
I have followed and have been impressed with
Ambient Insight and was recently pleased to
join their Advisory Board.
Until 2009 I was a MASIE Learning Fellow focusing on mobile learning with the MASIE Consortium Members and at Learning 2007 and 2008 Conferences.
ADL
Having taken some time off to get reorganized after retirement, I settled into several projects in which I was interested. The first wais with the
ADL Initiative involving the user community. We focused on the
adlCommunity.net "Supporting the Global Advancement of Distributed Learning."
Other
I have consulted with organizations, schools and government agencies on mobile learning and have participated in most training/learning conferences as a speaker on mobile learning. I continue to assist the ADL Academic Co-Lab as needed. For a period of time, I joined the staff part-time at IST at UCF as a researcher mainly in mobile learning and worked with Dr. David Metcalf and his team on several exciting mobile initiatives.
I have joined three boards (the Army's Distance Learning Training Technology Subcommittee, the Cristina Global Partner Network, and the CIGNA Healthcare External Thought Leadership Council) and am being selective about other initiatives, but can tell you that they will involve emerging technology, standards and mobile learning.
